habitually running an extender on an SL? buy a Levo. water bottle point not relevant - I carry a bottle on my Levo too. tyres - fair point.

Comment I read on a review that works for me: "don't think of the SL as an eMTB, think of it as a trail bike with a motor".

wouldn't expect it to be otherwise as that plus the motor is where the weight savings are. there'll be a bit on the frame (smaller tubes, it looks) but not much.

standard for demos seems to be they put a change on your card for the full value of the bike which is cancelled when you return it. and a fee for the demo, which is credited if you purchase. bike shops have to stay in business, there are plenty of tea-leaves out there (they come in credible...

Black SL Expert in the window of Ace Cycles, Merrow. Lush. (Not the best photo). I'm currently researching second hand values for my 6 month old Carbon Comp. I could be in trouble here.

presumably you can still power up hills, you just may go slower for a given pedal effort. there are probably edge cases where a full gas Levo will get a rider up something an SL won't. do they matter? (not to me, it's right out on the edge of the envelope).

yeah sneaky weight save on the tyres. I think the SL is not so suitable for mountainous terrain or winch and plummet riding. But where I live is hilly not mountainous and my riding is "aggressive XC" with flow and singletrack - I think it'll be great. Still think I'd put 2.6 on!

Does this also tell us Spesh don't see any game-changing tech breakthroughs on the short term horizon? So advancement for now is repackaging and refinement?

Lots of emtbs go to people who can't or don't want to (in practice) ride a bio bike. I think the SL is aimed at those who would and can. It's competing against the Stumpy not the full gas Levo. It's basically a market segmentation play. Which is smart - establish a niche and dominate it. Plus...

good points thanks. one thing I'm thinking re range is this will be a lot easier to pedal unpowered than the full fat Levo. I'm OK with bio-power in the mix.

Got a '19 Levo, very happy with it. Robs comments on geometry are pluses for me (he's pretty tall! - I'm not and super long reach is a negative for me). Looks to me like the SL vs full gas Levo is trading turbo mode for a 9 pound weight saving, 15mm shorter chain stays, rolling both my Levo and...

damn been out of the loop and missed this. I live within riding distance and can arrive on my Levo, just in case that helps a spare ticket happens to fall off the table. ;-) have a great day y'all. perhaps I'll try and look over the fence from one of the Chessington rollercoasters.

What are you riding with - Flats vs Clips?

20 years on clips. Bought flats when I bought my e-bike as I knew the tiny %ge performance difference would be irrelevant. Really like being able to choose foot position depending on what I'm riding. Game changer, especially having weight centred on the pedal downhill. I no longer buy that...

    Verbier Festival...a Yankee has questions...

Geneva. If you're flying from US I guess you'll arrive in Paris and can take the train. From GVA it's about an hour by road. On your journey home go the other way around the lake and stop in Chamonix. See Mt Blanc, take the ride up to the Aiguille du Midi, walk on the glacier at Montenvers...

Cost of replacement motor when out of warranty?

dood they don't evaporate when the battery runs out, you can still pedal and push them.
