Reach is only one part of the equation. Take a vertical line up from the bottom bracket and a horizontal line from the headset. Where these two lines intersect is your reach - when a measurement is taken from this point to the headset.
However, take two bikes - one with a 64 degree SA and one...
In the main, for your average height rider, you can just try different bikes out for size. However, if you're like me and around 1.98m, understanding geometry becomes fairly important.
Take the Kenevo. On paper it looks like it's got a long reach and wheelbase, ideally suited for a taller rider...
Well..... my Fontus lasted 6 washes and now it's heading back for a refund. I used it on spray for my bike but, due to how wet and muddy it was last week, I had to use the jet nozzle for a bit. After a minute of continuous use, the pump began pulsing on and off and then a leak appeared at the...
I've got a Suzuki Swift 5 door and it fits in behind the front passenger seat when it's in the forward position. I get the bike in, on it's side and wheels removed, with the front seat forward and the rear's down flat and it sits on top of the Bosch, which is also conveniently out of sight.
I'm chuffed with mine so far. The smaller trigger/nozzle makes it easy to manoeuvre around your bike into all the positions required to get to every nook and cranny. I've used it on Level 2 to clean my bike and 3 for the car. It's nowhere near the pressure of a 240v machine, but is way better...
I think they need to look at SC's new Bullit and Focus' Sam2 for modern geometry. A 68 degree SA will lead to a cramped feeling cockpit and potentially bugger up your knees, as it'll position them too far forward over your pedal spindles I've emailed them and asked for them to consider 67...
I'm now watching with interest. The reach figure for the large looks like an XL may well be on the money for fit.... if they make one in XL that is. My hope is that they will take a long hard look at Focus' Sam 2 and SC's new Bullit, as their geometry is fairly spot on and well suited for taller...
I use a sheet in my car, have been for years, and it's ok. However, I don't usually have time after a ride, especially a night ride, to clean the bike, so the mud dries on. We all know it's far easier to get your bike clean whilst the muck that's on it is still fresh and wet, so cleaning the...
Following comments on another pressure washer related thread on here, I bought the Bosch Fontus and i'm suitably impressed. It's got a 15L capacity and seems to be reasonably robustly built. It has a brush attachment , 3 nozzle settings and 3 power settngs. I recently tried it with a bit of Bilt...
If affordability is important, the next closest on the key geometry figures to try are; Mondraker Level, Bulls Sonic ENS and Focus Sam2, but the rider weight limits on the latter two count against them.
Having ridden the Heckler, i'd go for one, if the choice was that or the Giant. Looking at the Giant's geo, it looks to size up small, so that's a no from me and you're taller again. The Giant's stack is very low and you will have a lot of upper body weight over the bars as your saddle height...
I test rode an S5 Kenevo and, due to the really steep seat angle and rather slack head angle, found the cockpit very cramped. The Nicolai's do have the longest reach but, if you're tall, don't have a sufficiently high enough stack measurement to allay that 'over the bars' feeling. I can only...
The new SC Steve McQue.... sorry, Bullit; has just shot to the top of my list of bikes suitable for a taller/heavier rider. The price is somewhat shocking though, so i'll need to save a few more pennies before committing to a purchase. If we're going to get some tax breaks, or some special...
There's a big price difference but, for me, it's looking like SC have just released the best bike, in the Bullit. I'm 6'6" and 107kg's, so the high stack, long reach and extra wheelbase make it one of the roomiest bikes available. The all up weight limit is vastly superior to the Focus and the...
At 6'2" I think you may be between sizes. If you size large, you'll have a very nimble bike, but it may feel a tad cramped. In XL you'll have a more roomy feel and the bike will be nice and stable. At 6'6", my preference is for at least 650mm stack on a long travel fork (current bike 676mm and...
Have you tried a Level? Would appreciate your thoughts on the fit, as the geo gives you more stack, a 25mm longer front centre and runs a short stem of 30mm, so you could easily double that and maintain good steering. My Trail Pistol came with 40mm and I upped it to 55mm when I picked it up and...
Just bad advice, not true at all. Carbon is not inherently weaker than Aluminum. Very few frames these days have meaningful weight limits unless you're super fat. I've broken far more Aluminum frames than carbon ones. And the aluminum bikes were known for being some of the most durable...
