Improving high speed stability on Rail 7 - CushCore?

I started by using Trek's calculator at 185 pounds fully loaded (Suspension setup - Trek Bicycle). That has me set the rear shock to 215 PSI and 5 clicks out on the rebound. I lowered the PSI to 195 and moved it two clicks slower rebound. The front suspension started at 98 PSI and I lowered it...

Improving high speed stability on Rail 7 - CushCore?

Hi all! Been getting more miles on my Rail 7 and really enjoying it! I “upgraded” from a Haibike xduro that was honestly very similar but had the older Bosch motor and I wanted more power and better clearance from the trek. I hit too many rocks and my wife was kicking my butt up hills lol. After...

Just picked up a 2021 Trek Rail 7...first ride and big concern

Hi all, I figured this thread needed some closure. Thanks to all that helped provide original feedback before we figured out the issue. I took the bike to the shop I bought it from and they installed the new caliper in about 30 min and away I went. So far so good. I’ll be giving it it’s first...

Interesting. Thanks for that feedback. What an amazing forum! I wonder if I should do anything when I pick it up from repair to double check it was done correctly. It seems like a tough thing to tell visually.

ill have to double check. Thanks for the heads up. Would hate to have it happen again after they replace the caliper edit-where is the spacer? lol. I can measure the rotor easily enough. But I’m not sure where the other part you’re referring to is.

You know what? Your post made me realize something that may be contributing to their choice of words. They realize that they, in all likelihood, won’t be getting return business from me for parts or service in the future due to my location. From their perspective, the “investment” they make into...

I think the reason it looks so long is because the part of the caliper housing that should be there on the bolt is broken off and missing. Just a guess but we’ll see once it’s fixed next week.

I gotta say, though- MAD PROPS to you for guessing based on the sound! You were spot on. Color me impressed!

Hi...I can show you a picture of what broke. It isn’t fixable. It’s clear that the housing broke. That’s why I’m not sure if it was installed wrong (ie over tightened or something) or a manufacturing defect (idk-air in the composite?) I’m trying to attach the picture so you can see where it’s...

Just picked up a 2021 Trek Rail 7...first ride and big concern

Yes, it was the first ride. I did "test ride" it in the parking lot of the store (which I assume is all they would have done) and it wasn't noticeable. It wasn't until being on a trail and the first time I had to really squeeze the brake that I noticed it. That being said-it was the very first...

Just picked up a 2021 Trek Rail 7...first ride and big concern

Hi all- I would have considered just getting a new one and installing it, however, while my bike maintenance skills are not entirely zero, I haven't installed new calipers or bled lines before. I don't mind learning when the need arises but this bike is brand new. I want to make sure it is done...

Agreed. It seems strange. That’s kind of why their response seemed so strange. I can’t tell if they just wanted me to get help sooner since they are further away or if they didn’t want to deal with it. And I’m in California. Just outside of LA and they are up north.

I think in the US it’s the manufacturer’s responsibility-but it isn’t super clear and you never want to like “go to court” or something like that to figure out who is really to pay. However the way dealers work is they represent the manufacturer and handle repairs and warranty things. Since...

Thank you all for verifying that I'm not crazy for thinking this is wrong. Just got off the phone with the bike shop I bought it from. we did some looking over FaceTime and found that the caliper is broken. It is impossible to say if it was a manufacturing defect that allowed it to brake under...

thats what I thought. I emailed the bike shop. We’ll see what they say. I would love to hear back from anyone else with a rail 7!

Just picked up a 2021 Trek Rail 7...first ride and big concern

Hi all, I had a Haibike AllMtn 3.0 and decided to upgrade to the rail for better ground clearance (was having a ton of pedal strikes) and the new Bosch motor. The good news is that the rail is awesome in those regards. Great geometry and it climbs like a goat! Love that. However, I had a real...
