Walk mode is not configurable. BTW, a selected gear affects on the walk mode output

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.
Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Yes even on the largest 51 tooth cog I can't keep up with it, even up 40% gradients.
I will switch it back to US country and standard circumference which is quick enough and doesn't affect walk mode.
I use walk mode quite a bit on some of the more challenging rides.

I have used stunlocker a dozen or so times now. Every time to derestrict an ep800/8000/7000/etc.. I have not done a ep801 or ep801-rs
So far I have done this using an android phone to upgrade/downgrade the firmware.
I now have a SM-PCE02 and would like to take a look at the windows software.
The stunlocker website has a note which says "Windows version supports all firmware (of supported motors) for the derestriction, including the latest (August, 2024)".
Are there any new instructions/manual, etc?
Also with the SM-PCE02 can I change the region and/or circumference of a EP801 motor?

You can use PCE02 with any supported bike and on any firmware.
EP801/EP6 motors are not supported for the derestriction

I have also used STunlocker many times succesfully, and now I have EP801 and this is (currently) only supported by eMax and supports the new Shimano firmware with carry-over function - works great.
Are you working on the EP801/EP6 motors to supported derestriction?

No. Shimano fixed all latest firmware and remove everything from functionality via Bluetooth. I think that the only way to derestrict EP801/EP6 is to flash a patched firmware. Some guys do this via the PCE interface using remote desktop, because they don't want a patched firmware to leak into the public.

Since today, my STUnlocker/STRide Apps for Android will be free.
This decision was brought about by Google's position, which stopped paying developers from Russia (yes, I have a Russian passport), which led to the fact that any paid app by a Russian developer cannot be installed. Google tech support did not offer any alternatives. Despite having a residence permit from another country I will not be able to pass Google's requirements for new developers. It's funny that there are no problems with Apple, despite their stricter policy.
I want to say thank you to all those who bought the app, and please don't be offended by the fact that it is now free.

Hi - I am looking to derestrict an ep8 motor but I think I have the latest firmware as I downloaded and installed it through the ride app before I heard it was possible to do a derestrict- is it possible to do your derestrict now on my bike ? I would be happy to pay for your help as I have no clue what I am doing to be honest !!!

You can do that using STUnlocker App. The downgrade is required for the derestriction (if you don't have PCE interface). After the derestriction you have to update firmware to an actual version. You can get all information via App (thru emails)

Android phone is only needed for downgrade. Find someone to help you with this. It takes 10 minutes to do everything.
Better not use the wording "ep8" because this abbreviation can be the older EP800 or the newer EP801 model which are completely different types of drive units.
Unfortunately both types of drive units have them singed as "EP8" on the right hand side motor cover (which in my eyes was a huge mistake and big fail from Shimano)...
So this "EP8" wording can easily lead to misunderstandings and so also create a waste of time.
Best is to check the exact motor type with the E-Tube-Project app from Shimano or ST-Unlocker first.

Just use STUnlocker for Windows. No downgrade is required.
How is your app different from eplus bike? Because I'm waiting for a bike with shimano ep801 and I want to unlock it, I saw there that they have an RS unlock option, can you do it with it too? I understand that I need a shimano device with a cable, can it be unlocked via smartphone? or only via PC? Is there an email with technical support?

The guys from EPlus cannot modify (and speed up) an EP801 based bike with the latest motor firmware 4.4.1 anymore. The guys from EMAX are the only ones worldwide who can do that, see chapter 12 in this document. They also can do the "RS" unlock option. Just contact them and you will be happy.

I looked and the email isn't there.
I’m buying a bike with the EP801 motor, and I’ll have it in a week.
I’d like to unlock it right away.
- Is there a problem if the firmware version is incorrect for unlocking it to 60 km/h, and can the version be downgraded?
- Can the RS version be set?
- Is it possible to set only the strongest mode on the RS version, or do you have to configure everything to the RS version at once?
- Apparently, Shimano has two profiles. Can one profile remain factory-set while the other is set to RS?
- What happens if the program doesn’t work?
- What should I do if I need to restore factory settings, for example, due to a motor failure, to send it in for warranty service?

vadII can not unlock ep801 motors.....
The SM-PCE02 interface only runs in combination with a Microsoft - Windows based computer. So, you cannot connect this gear to an Android based device.
