Bash Guard Mud Collector 2020 Levo

Anyone know what this recessed area of the bash guard is for besides collecting mud and increasing drag? My first thought was it was an inlet to cool the motor but there's no opening to the motor just solid plastic...

No magic there, it's just a handle to pull the battery out...

I can see hexagons on the metal plate so it’s probably some kind of e-hive ? ?
