"The two most important things about an emtb is a low price and serviceable motor..." I'm sure someone once said. If you agree, the new Vitus E-Mythique LT might be perfect for you. But that's not all that's compelling about this bike.

2024 Vitus E-Mythique LT

Is it just me or is it difficult not referring to this bike as the Mystique? The Mythique carries the letters “LT” which presumably is short for Long Travel. It offers 170 mm up front and 160 mm at the back.

The combination of suspension travel and geometry figures tells us this is a burly bike, made for descending fast. 63.5* head tube angle and 1.275 mm wheelbase for size large are generous numbers. I’m happy to see they’ve kept the chainstays relatively short at 445 mm. This could be a properly burly shredder. But is it?

Bafang motor system

I don’t know, I didn’t ride the bike. And I haven’t ridden the motor. It’s the Bafang M510 which is rated at 95 Nm. Vitus claims 600 W max power, but the press info says 550W. I don’t know what's correct. I don’t even know how much range we get from the detachable 630 Wh battery.

Bafang sell spare parts for their motors.

Bike manufacturers can end up with a much better tune than the default Bafang tune.

Rob only knows

But Rob knows the answer to many of my/our questions. Check out his video, or keep reading below for the models and specs.

Vitus E-Mythique LT VRX

Price: £4,399.99 - U$4,599.00 - €5,099.99

The top of the line VRX isn't specced like most other top-of-the-line models. And that's to be expected, the E-Mythique aims to be a less expensive bike. The components all look good. Solid and well functioning stuff. Fitted on mullet wheels, these Vee tyres are new to me. I remember Vee tyres was struggling with the fit when they started making fatbike tyres more than a decade ago. But it seems they've got things sorted out now as they score well in a Singletracks test.

Vitus E-Mythique LT VRS

Price: £3,899.99 - $4,199.00 - €4,499.99

Is the VRS the model below the VRX? But, it's got Sunour Durolux 36 forks... I prefer those to the Yari RC! Sure, the VRS has a cheaper shock, and I assume the TRP Slate brakes are cheaper than the Sram DB8 on the VRX model. But I like TRP brakes, the cheaper VRS model is looking very interesting.

I usually say a cheap entry-level model is fine if you don't want to go fast on trails. But the specs of the VR model isn't that bad. The Suntour Zeron 36 fork does work and the Rockshox Deluxe Select shock can be found on much more expensive bikes. I've never ridden the Microshift Advent X 10-speed drivetrain, but Bikeradar has praised it for its impressive performance and robustness. I guess this could rival the Sram SX/NX mix drivetrain on the VRS model.

Am liking this Vitus, had an older Sommet was great bike, went lowest spec before & swapped stuff over time

I couldn't resist one. Like the idea of something with the bafang motor with regard to tinkering and future maintenance. Looks like it will be an absolute stormer downhill and a really capable all round bike for everything. Everything's fairly simple and cheap to change when you wreck things or want to upgrade and it's priced sensibly right from the beginning !

Thanks @knut7 for this great overview of the e-Mythique line! Well done, as always! 👍
This definitely opens up new possibilities for riders looking for a fully self-serviceable, self-maintainable e-bike when so far motor programming and replacement have always been the limiting factors, unless of course you go the DYI way!

Awesome new alternative from Vitus! Hope other bike manufacturers follow suit and start coming up with Bafang offerings! ;)

@rideronthestorm - thanks. Vitus hasn't confirmed serviceability of the motor, so I'm putting a bit of pressure on them with this article. Bafang does sell spare parts. I guess Vitus could void the warranty, or require the service/maintainance to be done by their service centers. Rob is looking further into this.

it has been some weeks now. Any update on this? I'm quite interested in hearing what they mean by serviceable. Home serviceable? Vitus serviceable? Since it's a d2c brand, I hope it's home serviceable without void of warranty, but I guess it's not up to vitus but bafang in the end?

I’d also be interested for any more info on this. 👍🏼

I haven't heard anything new, have you got anything @Rob Rides EMTB ? The motor can be opened and spare parts are available. But Vitus/Wiggle should make a statement about how they want to handle it. The obvious route is to allow the motor to be seviced by certified dealers/shops to keep the warranty.
