"The two most important things about an emtb is a low price and serviceable motor..." I'm sure someone once said. If you agree, the new Vitus E-Mythique LT might be perfect for you. But that's not all that's compelling about this bike.
The combination of suspension travel and geometry figures tells us this is a burly bike, made for descending fast. 63.5* head tube angle and 1.275 mm wheelbase for size large are generous numbers. I’m happy to see they’ve kept the chainstays relatively short at 445 mm. This could be a properly burly shredder. But is it?
The top of the line VRX isn't specced like most other top-of-the-line models. And that's to be expected, the E-Mythique aims to be a less expensive bike. The components all look good. Solid and well functioning stuff. Fitted on mullet wheels, these Vee tyres are new to me. I remember Vee tyres was struggling with the fit when they started making fatbike tyres more than a decade ago. But it seems they've got things sorted out now as they score well in a Singletracks test.
Is the VRS the model below the VRX? But, it's got Sunour Durolux 36 forks... I prefer those to the Yari RC! Sure, the VRS has a cheaper shock, and I assume the TRP Slate brakes are cheaper than the Sram DB8 on the VRX model. But I like TRP brakes, the cheaper VRS model is looking very interesting.
I usually say a cheap entry-level model is fine if you don't want to go fast on trails. But the specs of the VR model isn't that bad. The Suntour Zeron 36 fork does work and the Rockshox Deluxe Select shock can be found on much more expensive bikes. I've never ridden the Microshift Advent X 10-speed drivetrain, but Bikeradar has praised it for its impressive performance and robustness. I guess this could rival the Sram SX/NX mix drivetrain on the VRS model.
2024 Vitus E-Mythique LT
Is it just me or is it difficult not referring to this bike as the Mystique? The Mythique carries the letters “LT” which presumably is short for Long Travel. Bafang motor system
I don’t know, I didn’t ride the bike. And I haven’t ridden the motor. It’s the Bafang M510 which is rated at 95 Nm. Vitus claims 600 W max power, but the press info says 550W. I don’t know what's correct. I don’t even know how much range we get from the detachable 630 Wh battery.
