Does anyone know if the yt warranty would transfer to a new owner

Yes, but you’ll need the original sales invoice. Create an account at YT and follow the process. They’ll let you know what they can do for you.

Yes! I’ve posted a few replies. It’s been sorted superbly by YT UK. New motor. New frame. No cost.

Hi mate, can I pick your brain re YT in the UK?!

Awaiting delivery of my Decoy, hoping I don’t get a Friday afternooner(!). What’s the story with returns under warranty? Do they have a base in Englandshire now instead of sending the bike back to the factory? Read some chat that their UK support has improved but unsure as to what exactly they’ve put in place?

Ever the pessimist!!
Cheers

There is a YT UK operation opening in Guildford. The team behind it are superb and know what they are doing. There’s obviously some disruption to opening and launch due to the current Global situation, but they have the team coming together. They liaise with their man back in Germany and have this all coming together brilliantly. I just happened to be in the wrong place with my bike at the right time.

Exact details of who, what, when and how are imminent. It is exactly what YT needed and rest assured, I have had the best customer care and service since the UK team picked up on my issue, they aren’t open yet but they have the right people in the right places. They have superb industry contacts and this should make all the difference. I’m pretty certain that we will be able to liaise, visit, see, test ride, buy and get fixed through this facility.

Start being optimistic! I went from being thoroughly dejected to being the biggest YT advocate again. I genuinely like the bikes and the business model, I just fell into the hole that is ‘warranty repairs’ - the guy behind the UK operation isn't a novice at doing this. He knows exactly what’s needed.

Just sit tight for launch! We can all look forward to it post C19 and the easing into semi lockdown and then freedom again.

After checking with YT a second owner if they still have the original receipt will have a 2 year warranty from YT from the date of original owner, this somewhat puts dout in my mind ref purchasing one 2nd hand, any thoughts. The one I have Wye on would have just over a year left if I purchased. Assuming the Shimano motor will also have a 2 year warranty from when purchased new ?

Neale - just take a look at YT’s website around Warranty, click a little and you’ll be able to read what YT say, I’d take their word on it rather than anything we might all type on a forum.

Then send them a message, give them details of the bike even, you might find exactly what you are potentially buying. But when all is said and done, it’s Shimano. It’s fixable the World over. It just needs YT to be in the loop and agree the warranty or you’ll be paying. These are not cheap toys to fix!
