Whyte/Bosch UK weatherproofing

I’ve seen it alluded to a few times that Whyte, being the upstanding British company they are, take extra steps to protect the Bosch bits from the worst of the UK weather. I can’t find anything official though, so could anyone point me in the right direction please?
I notice @Bearing Man has some Bosch specific stuff on his site and wonder if that’s an avenue I should explore, or not (if similar has been done already at manufacture).

the only things I can see re weatherproofing attributable to Whyte are oversized frame bearings and the fact that the battery is fully enclosed in the down tube ( as per the Levo and others, so not unique) thus a voiding the more normal Bosch battery installation with the plastic/rubber cover on the front face of the down tube. Maybe they use higher quality wheel bearings than the norm but they do not specify what. They also have a different charging point arrangement to most other Bosch motored bikes with what looks like a more substantial cover rather than the flimsy plastic hinged cover or even more pathetic rubber push in cover. That said, on the Whyte, it is on a flat level surface above the motor which looks to me like somewhere piles of mud would accumulate so who knows!!
It may be an interesting question to put to Whyte.

As above, the Bosch battery is fully enclosed, but no more so than many other bikes.
I would have thought the Bosch motor in the Whyte is completely stock, no different to installation in a Decathlon.
Apart from the frame providing good bash protection, I can't see what additional protection the motor has from mud or the elements.

The Whyte frame and bearings certainly seem man enough for year round UK conditions.

I thought the mud stop and bearing seals from PerformanceLineBearings were Gen3 specific?

I would be interested in anything Gen4 specific, that might further seal the motor bearings, if available, or indeed required?

A Whyte specific section would be great, especially as now proven e-brand and new broader range for 2021

(However suspect we have so few issues compared to Specialised, Trek, YT et al, it might be a bit quiet. ;) )
Yeah, it was the Mud Stop I was looking at plus something similar for the other side. Might make a few calls tomorrow...

Just had a brief but very informative conversation with Peter at Performance Line Bearings and it seems there’s not much that needs to be done to the gen4 system in the way of preventative action. His only advice was to reapply some waterproof grease to the crank seals from time to time.

Thanks for the chat @Bearing Man

I’ve edited the original post as the Mud Stop does not fit the gen4.

Oh and @Rob Hancill , would it be possible to have a Whyte subsection please?
I’ve already sent Rob a message regarding this matter weeks ago but so far nothing has happened and I posted a thread on the forum too but I see nothing has come of it, I would have thought after all this time we’d have a section for Whyte, if it was a section about Specialized it’d be sorted toot sweat ?
