Do you know why this is?Higher end mountain bike gear shifters don't tend to have gear indicators, they are mostly found on fairly low end gear shifters.
No idea, but if I had to guess it could be because the gear indicator will limit the ability to position the shifter on the bar, that and once you have a reasonable amount of experience you don't need to look at an indicator to know what gear you're in.Do you know why this is?
Nothing to do with high end componentry or Ebikes.
Shimano shifters have removable gear indicator windows. From Altus/acera all the way through to XT.
