What has a greater impact on battery range? ...assistance or peak power level?

Did a little 40km battery test on my Levo today, was hoping to do it within 50% but I used 59%.

2019 Levo / 504wh battery
15% Assistance
25% Peak Power
40km
820m climbing
13 stone rider
Surrey Hills terrain
Magic Mary 2.6 Front / Wild Enduro 2.4 Rear

Ideally want to get 80km out the battery for a ride I’ve got planned this Summer.

“Why bother lugging a 50lb Eeb around for 50 miles with the assistance so low a normal bike would be more fun?”

Because I’m interested to see if it’s possible on my Levo.

I’ve done hundreds of 24hr/multi-day endurance rides / events over the years so it’s not the particular challenge of this one (if you see what mean).

I‘m also not overweight at 13 stone kitted-up (although that may sound heavy) ??

I've done 42 miles 1700m climb and used 90% of 500Wh Bosch, using assustance only when I need it. If there are two routes up a mountain, the longer, shallower climb on less assistance seems to use less battery.

500w kenevo. same as you 40k 850m climbing. 10% assist (smart control) - was a bit like riding a normal bike really .. 35% battery left. 10 stone rider.

Bizarrely, normally I have 0% left after that distance, so I'm quite happy .. god it was boring though.

I’d say that limiting peak power will give you the biggest battery saving potential. If you can put out reasonable power you will be able to get that motor to its max power even at relatively low assistance levels. I run my Eco mode at only 15% assistance , but with PP at 100% according to BLEvo I still get the motor to output close to 500w in Eco mode when I get on the pedals. Happy to share my BLEvo rides stat if you like.

Couldn’t you use Smart control in theory? Tell it you have 80 km until you get home estimate the evaluation tell it you want 2% battery left and let Mission Control manage the power.

I wasn't throwing stones from my own greenhouse BTW . I'm a full stone heavier than you

From my experience on my 2108 Levo, you are right at the limit of max range with your set-up. I would suggest monitoring your cadence during your ride and try to run at about 70 - 80 rpm.

Sounds like an interesting project and look forward to hearing more on your progress.
