What did you buy your ebike this week?

Bought 2 more High Roller 3's for wife and my bikes.

South Downs trails near us are getting so muddy (with far more rain on the way) that I'm having to retyre [sic] our bikes.

Last time out the front Maxxis High Roller 3's gave plenty of grip but the rear DHR2's got completely clogged. So will also put High Roller 3's on the rear and keep the DHR2 rears for when the High Roller 3's are knackered when should be much drier in late Spring.

23 miles today with wife in South Downs muck and mud with dry patches covered with leaves, loose stones and flint, and everything else in between with rear High Roller 3 DH's and front High Roller 3 DD's.

No clogging, no loss of grip, and roll surprisingly well. Will probably leave fronts on all year with last year's front Maxxgrip Assegais and lightly used Maxxgrip DHR2's used for drier (summer) rear duty when the rear High Rollers are knackered.

Before and after pics using a process of minute ceramic spheres in a slurry with water that can be described as a soft sand blast. No damage to the threads or castellations on the crank. Didn’t even charge as it only took 5 mins. Impressive to say the least.

Remember these, just faffing around on these cranks…I purchased crank arm graphics from Slik Graghics but did not fit so I made the best of a bad job ( I received a credit note from Slik because they did not fit).To think I was going to throw them away.

Yeah, CushCore plus on the rear of my Rail 9.7. They were a ba*terd to get in but they have saved my rim a few times after a burp.

On the Rail I use 35mm wide offset Raceface rims for a slightly wider profile on the Maxxis Assigia. (2.6”). Also a little better grip in snow conditions.

Not on the Fuel EXE though. I probably should since those are carbon rims (30mm)

I will always support my LBS for service I can't do but when parts like these are being made and shipped here with a 100% mark up, its going to be Aliexpress for the win at $20 with free shipping and no tax ($40 + tax each locally). I also make my own end caps as I seem to keep knocking them off and loosing the stock ODI ones.

We have Imby, Trek and Kinetic Cycles in our area so I try and spread the love to those guys …but occasionally I wander into Steed Cycles.

I walk into Steed sometimes but I find it frustrating that they ALWAYS have a HUGE sale on (as seen on Instagram) of up to 30% and when you look into it, there isn't that much to get THAT excited about. Steed has good mechanics tho!

I use to visit Dunbar for the road/gravel bikes. Steed Cycles draws me in for the MTB shoes…fairly good selection there. But I find myself starring at the wall of tools.

I only get the “Norm from Cheers” discount from Imby Cycles or Trek. The mechanics at Imby have showed me a few helpful tricks. Imby Cycles have wandered into the EMTB market recently …I’ll take a little credit for that since I was their very first customer. But mostly they are a high end MTB shop.

thule XXL wheel straps for second bike on rack

also ordered Fox wind gillet been after one for ages
and just ordered some 100% brisker winter gloves for £17 from blacks
don’t wear gloves but making an exception for winter


oh and lost the sram AXS battery cover when out on Tuesday after 4 crashes ffs
ordered 2 pack from ali express for £3.80

Not for the bike, for my back. An Evoc E-Ride backpack for the spare battery I purchased a few weeks back. As the older 625/630 wh batteries become cheaper it might work out as a far more cost effective option than buying a new bike with a 750/800/900+ wh non removable internal battery, and 1260wh! Will test ride this weekend to see if it's feasible to carry a heavy lump any distance off road in this pack.

More servicing stuff, a fresh bottle of Isoprpyl alkeehol & some Dowty washers. I particularly like the washers as they seal foot nuts perfectly, cost pennies & get round Rockshox's policy of only selling crush washers as part of their service kits, so I can regualarly service forks without piling up unneeded spares.

I'm liking the dowty washers on the foot nuts idea
I used to use them on hydraulic systems running at 4500 PSI.
So you won't have any problems with sealing the forks

I’ve done exactly the same and for the same reason. A tad heavy but surprisingly comfortable with loads of storage.

I’ve done exactly the same and for the same reason. A tad heavy but surprisingly comfortable with loads of storage.

Yes, a little on the heavy side even when empty but not really noticeable when on your back. Only managed to ride up and down my street with the spare battery in the Evoc due to my area having an incredibly wet fog sat over us all weekend but it seems manageable and surprisingly not as bad as expected. I agree I didn't realise the Evoc has so many pockets and compartments.
