Hi all

I’m looking at a second hand bike at the moment, maybe a 19-20 , most bikes have anything from 300-1000 miles and was just wondering what if any problems I should be looking for?. I’ll just be using it for some general trails no downhill or anything like that. I bought a New Scott bike last month, but need another bike For family to get out as well . I’ve seen a fanatic/ specialised in my price range that look ok.

opinions welcome
thanks

Think of it like buying a new car . Second hand lol
Be suspicious and do some research.
Look for red flags. It's a gamble in your favour. be streetwise . If something doesn't feel right Walk .
Take if for a ride . Atleast 2 or three of the same model to compare. And when the time comes you will know . Or just spend more money and buy new . And enjoy the customer service.

I’ve had a good read of that a while back ,have brose updated the engines to stop the problems?

like I said I can only ride the bike and see how it sounds and rides, the engine and battery are always going to be a weak point over a British winter. There would be no second hand market if the engines were that bad!

If u get motor with extended warranty or current warranty will be fine. My second hand levo had motor fail . Only cost me 100aus to replace. Just get original receipt from owner. My first motor did 3000kms before failure. My second motor has done 3000 also

If its a 2019 with the 2.1 then it will have the 4 year motor warranty.

How will I know if it a 2.1 ?, does it say on the engine
Sorry if that’s a daft question
Thanks
You could ask to see the screen prints from mission control for the bike for "motor" and "battery" - then you know the theoretical mileage with the motor and the battery health/charge cycles.

Just looking at the bike at a glance. If it looks like this :

So the battery swings down out of the frame, is held in at the top with a through bolt - this style of frame. Then it will be a Brose 1.2 or 1.3 and is a Gen1 Levo and won't have an extended motor warranty - but probably has a slightly more reliable motor anyway.

If it looks like this - battery inserts from the bottom, different frame style .. then it's a Gen2 Levo .. and will be a 2.1 motor.

If it looks like this and the frame over the motor is angled like the Gen1 again (rather than flat like the Gen2) and the top tube is straight, then it's a Gen3 levo and if they're saying it's a 2019 then it's probably stolen and you should stay clear !

I purchased my Levo carbon comp used from here around a year ago, it’s a 2019 and just over 3 years old now, it’s just had a new motor warranty authorised by Specialized, make sure you get the original receipt or they won’t accept the warranty, I didn’t get one when I got the bike, but luckily managed to track it down.

The Best Bike Repair Is No Bike Repair: New Extended Warranty and Firmware Update for
all model year 2019/20 Levo FSR & 2020 Kenevo
For any rider, the best kind of bike repair is no bike repair – that’s our goal. If one of our bikes has let
you down when you were counting on it, we’re not ok with that and we’ll make it right. Period.
Our job is to make bikes that give riders the absolute best in performance and reliability. The Specialized
Turbo Levo & Turbo Kenevo have delivered on this promise for hundreds of thousands of riders across
millions of km/mi around the globe. Innovation at Specialized will never stop. When we find a way to
make a bike better, we do it as soon as possible. We make dozens of small improvements to our bikes
and mobile apps on a rolling basis - it’s what allows us to deliver riders the very best, often before it is
available elsewhere.
Some time ago, it came to our attention that we were experiencing a small but unacceptable number of
early-life failures in some of our Model Year 2019/20 Levo and 2020 Kenevo motors. Since then, we
have worked relentlessly to drive a number of improvements to eliminate any issues. These have
included steps to reduce noise, fitting a stronger belt, updates to the freewheel assembly and further
optimizations to address strength and overall reliability.
All of these hardware-based improvements are featured on motors fitted to Model Year 2021 Levo &
Kenevo. To ensure peace of mind for you as a rider, we’re extending the motor warranty on impacted
bikes from 2 to 4 years for all owners of Model Year 2019/20 Levo FSR and 2020 Kenevo from the date
of purchase. This warranty is transferable should you decide to sell your bike.
Recently, we also identified a bug in the 2.1 motor firmware which has contributed to belt failures. In
response we’ve just released a new version of motor firmware that improves belt reliability without
compromising power or performance. We strongly recommend that you update your motor firmware
by arranging a service visit with your local retailer.
There is nothing further you need to do in order to activate your extended motor warranty, however we
strongly recommend you to register your Turbo bike on Mission Control to access future updates and
alerts about your bike (go to ‘DIAGNOSE’  ‘REGISTER). Should you have any questions please do not
hesitate to get in touch with your local retailer.
Thanks for your continued support and commitment.

It is lke playing Bingo. You have no idea what will happen.
Low mileage might mean it is a lemon that spent wayyy to much time in the shop.
Look at Giant reliable and reasonable price.

Low mileage might also mean the owner has just had the motor replaced - it resets with each new motor.

So the battery / frame / linkages / suspension etc could be tired.

isn’t that true of any bike?, bush kits are cheap and easy to fit, suspension needs and tune every now again, batterys last about 2-3 years on anything!
The only problem but is usually the motor, but there is the repair and new motor warranty.

we’ll see👍

Hi all
Bought another second hand levo!

This one is carbon frame, new motor , battery and electrics under warranty , so only done a few hundred miles since.

The thing is well ridden, due a good service!, but it will clean up nicely I think!

Needs new -
brake pads , maybe rotors, as they squeak!
Seat
Pedals

It has saint brakes that have some rusty bolts that need changing, where would I source them from?
