Nothing to do with emtb’s... but hopefully someone can advise!

I’ve just taken delivery of a Wahoo Kickr today.
I’m in Scotland, and it’s already into the 6 months of dark nights... so I thought I’d hopefully be able to get a few hours a week cycling in the evening when the kids are in bed!
I have a Stumpy that rarely gets used since I got my Levo SL, and have a projector screen set up in the garage... which I thought would be pretty cool for Zwift.

Anyway... my Stumpy has an Eagle X01 groupset, and the Kickr isn’t XD out of the box - so I bought the Eagle NX, which slots straight on.

I got the thru-axle adaptor, and put the bike on. It works fine, but the gears are out of sync. The lowest few are fine (1/2/3/4), and then they start grinding and I have to shift twice to move 2 gear. At the end, I’m out of clicks, and the chain only reaches 11th.

I expected that having a turbo trainer would be a straight swap - in that I can just swap back and forth between the wheel / trainer, and not have to adjust the derailleur.

Have I set something up wrong, or does the Eagle NX have different spacing to the X01?
I’m loathed to change it, as the shifting on the Stumpy is one of the smoothest I’ve ever had!
