Tubeless set up question.

Just set my bike up tubeless. Never done it before and no compressor but I managed to get both front and rear seated and holding air easily with my track pump.

The problem is the rear seems to be loosing a tiny amount of air through a few spokes.

The rims are Dt Swiss and were pre taped. The bikes done 40 mile on tubes so I'd think that tape would be stuck to the time well but it seems it isn't perfect.

Is the sealent going to do its job and plug the air loss or am I gonna have to take it back off and start again with new tape?

What you think?

Cheers

I’d re tape them, it might seal at the spoke but you’ll end up with your fluid on the wrong side of the rim internally eventually if you get what I mean? Depends a bit on the rim construction obviously.

Don't know the answer, but thanks for the cautionary tale. I have pre-taped DT Swiss rims and been fine through two sets of tyres and 3500kms so far. But on hearing this with a new set of rims in future think I'll pump them high and dip in water to check all the spoke holes before I start thinking about putting sealant fluid in.

It is not unusual to loose a couple of psi for a couple of days after going tubeless. The thing is to ride the bike and give the sealant a chance to do its' job.

Nip the valve stem up gently too as that can be a leak path to the spokes, although the sealant should work there too. DT Swiss rim tape is pretty good.

I had read that leaking through the spokes was usually because the valve is not fitted/seated correctly. Don't overtighten it, but make sure it is installed firmly. It worked for me.
