Just got a Trek exe 9.8 xt and taking it for its first real spin today. I replaced the stock tires with Maxxis Assegai in front and Dissector rear, also put Ergon grips on it and a women specific saddle. I am watching the pedal strikes as I understand that is a "thing" so I will have questions about which cranks etc. I can certainly see why because the pedal in the bottom position is certainly lower than on my Liv Intrigue Advance Pro. As far as the motor goes, I will start off with the default settings and go from there. Am taking it on familiar trails with not that many features to get used to the handling and the fact that it is heavier. I've been riding for donkeys years by the way and I thought that the $1,000 I spent on a Litespeed Obed frame in 1995 was a lot of money. Yikes.
I got the bike because I like epic climbs and mega miles. 25 years ago, on the Litespeed it was just what we did. Now, ok, being over 70 it sorta catches up with you and it's time for a little pedal assist.
Like I said, riding for donkey's years. I am a ride volunteer with Girlz Gone Riding which is a women's group in Califirnia with about 8 or 9 chapters dedicated to getting the ladies on the trail. If you know any women in California looking for a group to ride with look it up. We have no drop rides of different levels from absolute beginner to shred monsters.
