Different frame, flip chip, magnetic charger cover, ability to use range extender, 29” wheels, better waterproofing on the down tube and more. It looks quite different to me.

It is funny to see how fast is Giant to ask websites to remove what should not be seen when it appears on forums and how slow is Giant to fix problems when we talk about them on the same forums...

I anticipated this would occur so I did screenshots.
Jonito showed pics and they were removed. Sykkel went one better and provided the specs.
I had my heart set on Trek Rail 9 or Trek Rail 9.8XT but the 1 will be heaps cheaper and sway me back to Giant.

Thanks for the post. I was about to go on a seek or destroy mission for the new Haibike allmtn 7.0, but this has stopped me dead in my tracks!

I love the new routing of all the cables over the top of motor. The old routing has been a source of many troubles both with keeping the derailleur working consistently and with water ingress.

Glad they finally changed the rubber cover for the charging port. The one on my 2019 Trance flicks open too easily even when my left leg slightly brushes up against it. The new one looks like a decent improvement.

I had a Reign for a couple of weeks and the magnetic cover, which this appears to be, was the only thing I was jealous of !

Display not in the photos. My guess is it will be optional.

Agree. It just says the display is compatible.
It’s a basic crappy display like the Bosch Purion.
Giant have had time to really develop a nice colour screen with stats. Like Bosch Kiox but they haven’t.

there is a new one coming with new city e-bikes, RideControl Evo (new version) with new color screen with more actual look

Wow that looks awesome.
In saying that it’s a shame Giant didn’t change the Ride Controller for that nice screen.

For the Bosch Kiox screen they have 4 buttons:
1. + and - for Power Control settings
2. Left and Right buttons to scroll the Menu.
Also Kiox has Strava comparability

Don’t get me wrong I really want to get this new Trance X E+ 1 as it’s kitted up nice. The equivalent Trek Rail 9 is estimated to cost $1450 more and it’s running Sram GX and Code R brakes. That’s similar to XT gear.

to get an equivalent computer I might have to get a Garmin 530 that will cost $500. So the gap is bridged potentially.

The Bosch Kiox for the Rail is mounted on the top tube. Some other bikes have them on the stem bolt.

I’m sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the Sram GX on your bike. I’ve got GX on my acoustic bike and found it now problems at all.

I was told the 2021 GX is new but I haven’t ridden it yet. Nor have I seen theTrance X E+1. Most of the bike is running XT with exception of Rear derailleur that is XTR

Yes I’m disappointed the 0 has been dropped and wasn’t a fan of 1.

As a result I’ve put down a deposit for a 2020 Merida E160 10k. Fox Factory suspension and XTR drivetrain. Got a good deal on that and with 2 504W batteries that’s good enough for me.

Am happy with spec of the new 1 (Fox, XT, XTR) just not a fan of the silver color, but that will not deter me. Just getting impatient lol. Would love to see more on the geometry specs before I commit.

in 2021 the 1 is now running XT and Fox Performance Elite. So it’s been despecced for the same money.

A few weeks ago I put down a deposit on a 2020 Merida E160 10k. It’s running XTR drivetrain and brakes and Fox Factory and Carbon frame.

I rang my Giant LBS to say I won’t be getting the new Trance now. Kinda felt bad but I am happy with my decision.

In the States, our prices dropped, and the spec has improved. Maybe it's a currency thing. Either way the water is a real problem for some. My 2019 has been beat senseless and drowned in mud and yet still lives.
The Merida looks like an awesome machine. So many great choices out there.
