Trance 2021 PRO 29ER 2 or Trance 2020 + 0 PRO

Appreciate any advice, this will be my first E bike!

Left deposit for 2021 29ER 2 (Small) with local Giant dealer, now being advised July availability. For almost the same money (incl 15% discount) I can get 2020 model Trance + 0 PRO 625 battery

This has left me really confused as I know the 2020 model is top spec components and uses same motor/battery.

Any advice or guidance would be really really appreciated.

Thanks

I'd say that's a tough choice.

I have a 2019 trance 1, and a 2021 trance x 1, I've only about 40 miles on the X, becuase its been too muddy to ride the new bike, while I've got the old one prepped for mud.

The new motor is definitely an update but both your choices have it, so that's a wash.

The X is more comfortable, and adjustable with the flip chip. As well it's a 29er with at least the possibility to run a mullet, if that's your thing.

The battery motor interface is supposed to be weather proofed better on the X, and it has a lower seat tube, leaving more wiggle room for longer droppers.

I also believe they routed the cables much better on the X, bringing them over the motor as opposed to below the motor in the Trance.

I will say that I think the Trance has better front grip than the X, but the X is certainly more playful.

I'm a shimano fan boy so the X is looking better still from here.

I hate using DOT brake fluid, and curse SRAM everytime I have to do anything with their brakes that involves opening the lines. Shimano uses a mineral oil system, that I find works just as well, without the fuss.

The geometry of both bikes is listed at geometry geeks, and they are quite different, so I think that's worth a look see.

Thanks, it’s good to get a different perspective, but as you say a tough choice. It does seem they have increased the 2021 bike prices whilst offering a lower spec. Iam still no closer to making a decision Doh!

I added extra blah blah to my original post. I like the spec on the 21 X better.

Whoops I thought your X was a pro 1. Sorry about the babbling.

No problem, definitely pro 0 2020 is the comparison, just need to hear from someone who has this model and the plus and negatives.
Appreciated you taking the time to respond??
