Changed pads and went to bleed brakes but torx key snapped inside bleed port as shown on pic ,
Has anyone any idea how to remove ?
I thought about drilling it out maybe?
This could prove difficult to remove. The torx bit will be hardened, making drilling into it very difficult.
If you can remove the caliper and get in into a bench vice, it will make the process a little easier.
A few ways to go about it.
Lucky way
The torx bit will have deformed the splines in the aluminium cap, locking the broken bit in place.
You can try hammering pins down the left side of the splines to try and free the broken bit, tapping and wiggling them where you can. If you're very lucky it will free up, and you can fish the broken bit out.
Easy out
You'd need to centre punch the middle of the broken torx bit best you can, then start with a small (2mm) cobalt bit.
Use slow speed and high pressure when drilling, and cutting oil is essential, or you'll get nowhere.
Once you've gone deep enough with the 2mm move up to the next size drill bit, work in 0.5 increments.
Once the hole is wide enough to accept a small easy out, carefully start to thread it in and fingers crossed it will bite and remove the entire cap/bolt in one. You'll obviously need to replace the cap/bolt with a new one.
Other method is to use left-handed drill bits, same method, start small and work up in increments. If you're lucky the cap/bolt will come undone while you're drilling, or you get so close to the outer diameter of the broken torx bit, it will break into pieces, and you can fish the remains out.
Both methods require accurate centre punching to start with. Good luck, hope you get it sorted
Thanks for your reply, I have managed to get it out without damaging the bleed port, had to drill it out enough for screwdriver to get in then a bit of super glue to the screwdriver and torx bit left it to set then pulled out without any damage so very lucky thanks again
