Thankfully my Specialized Ebike has turbo mode or I wouldn't be able to take these tools riding with me!šŸ™ƒ

Anyone built a custom tool box?
Yup, but it was a small affair, suitable only for the choicest bits of the tool collection.
Did it as a gift to someone who gifted me a nos set of Hope bulb hubs. I felt the gift was too nice, so made him something as way of a thank you.

Maple with Bubinga and Ebony - in the style of Japanese tool boxes. The wedge keeps the lid shut. The bubinga side bits are undercut as way of handles, and the lower bit is angled as a handy store to keep a pencil.

I inherited my uncles box and tools when he died, itā€™s a 84ā€ epic with side lockers and the top box. Itā€™s full of Snap-on and Mac tools, he was a Ford tech for 30 something years. Only problem is itā€™s huge! Itā€™s in my storage in the US, I donā€™t have anywhere to put it over here so I havenā€™t shipped it yet. We have planning permissions to build my 4 car garage/shop but my wife has decided that she wants to move back down towards Edinburgh so that probably wonā€™t be happening now.

I would be proud to say that I had made that, and I hope you are too!

2wheels, that's a beautiful toolbox.

The problem with taking a heap of tools is you need to take spares to support the tool use in many cases, so a selective set for adjustment and simple repairs should suffice. High level maintenance at home before the ride.

Look at 3d printed trays.

My tools are in office cabinets, way too many. Or laying about on the bench or canvas travel bag.
