I've unsubscribed because, apart from the old, tired, boring format, the recent 12-minute-long "(insert brand name here) advert" video was the sponsor straw that broke the camel's back afaic.

Rob's videos are more engaging, fresher and interesting in the same way as watching "Better Call Saul" is better than looking at a bit of mouldy cheese.

Here's hoping he doesn't also get too sponsor-happy...

Presume you’re talking about EMBN ? It’s an embarrassing channel. GMBN is so good yet EMBN is the complete opposite. IMO they need to ditch Steve Jones, he only seems interested in technical climbing, replace him with Blake Sampson, and have more videos of actual eebs being ridden, like the recent one with Chris Smith. Some of the epic rides they used to do were great, but long time since we’ve seen one of those

It gives the impression the target audience of EMBN is ‘older’ casual canal path riders, that want to spend all their money on the latest bling and advertised crap that EMBN consistently bang on about

Steve is actually a great presenter if covering world cup downhill.
I agree though he's cringingly unwatchable on the subject of Emtb or bike sizing.

EMBN, GMBN and GCN are all massively subsidised by brands money.. This really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. All successful YouTube channels to some extent are.
On the subject of GMBN being "better" I recently watched a top gear style challenge (completely staged race) between the Don on a roadbike and a GCN presenter that was almost unwatchable because of all the OBVIOUS and monotonous GARMIN references and almost constant GARMIN product placement.
TBF it's all very well produced and mainly very well presented content whether biased or not and at the end of the day it's all given to you entirely FREE.
So whatever you think of the channel I'm not sure it's worthy of a flounce.

It's certainly worthy of an un-subscription.

The sponsorship displays/mentions are way over the top (something with which I notice you agree), finalising in an entire video dedicated to shoving a particular brand of cleaning product in your face. The format of the main "show" video is tired and boring and they seem tobe running out of ideas elsewhere.

I also find the "hey wow" double-act commentary staged and irritating.

And keep your "flounce" comments to yourself, thanks.

It’s Steve Jones’ lack of enthusiasm and negative persona that grinds me. It’s as though he can’t be arsed and took the job because nothing else was on offer at the time!

If its enthusiasm they want. They should take Steve to the pub BEFORE the shoots instead of after.
The Welsh aren't too different to the Scots in that respect.

TBF a lot of all those channel's content is very nooby and often a little cringe. And Steve's pretty long in the tooth. What ones he has left anyway ?

Bear in mind it's just MBUK in video format. Would you go out and buy a copy of that at your age?

Well I like Steve, but both GMBN and EMBN are embarrassingly bad. Massive amount of repeats, short uninteresting fragments that have no depth what so ever. Is this faster or that faster bullshit all the time....If you care about times (like DH racer) then i'm pretty sure you would not go to this channel.

But hey I guess a lot of people do like it :)

I watch them from time to time, pick and choose the content. I got bored of the weekly shows they do (all 3 channels, 5 if you separate the tech channels). Blake and Neil are good when left to their own devices, the proper behind the scenes stuff is good, watch Blake's chute guide and watch at the end how one of the crew finally conquers the chute that he chickened out of previously. That real stuff is good, the promotion stuff not so much, I expect the presenters also feel the same when they have to push the products.

They will no doubt pay attention to viewing figures and see what works and doesn't work as well as the comments to decide on future content, if the formula works they will stick to it even if it's rinse/repeat.

I guess it is inevitable that very specialist channels lose their appeal for time served EMTBers after a while but then there continues to be "newbies" to add to their audience. I find myself watching less of the videos now and get a little frustrated that they fail to deal with some of the more important topics to do with maintenance and reliability probably constrained by sponsorship conflicts. I think they could also help people find new places to ride..........in the UK for example, and local for other countries. If you analyse some of the most popular topics on this forum you get a good idea what a lot of EMTBers would find interesting. Upgrades/how to........fault finding........riding gear........etc.

they definitely have their uses.
I came across ebikes when I retired from rugby, and between EMBN and Rob I was convinced to buy one which was a big decision simply cos of the money..
now? well, like everyone says, they are good at making 15 minute long adverts and that grinds my gears but sometimes they will do a good feature like the tour de mont blanc etc.
