Surrey Newbie looking for first EMTB

Hi folks,

Great looking forum!

I'm on the look out for my first EMTB and I'm hoping I can get some advice. I ride Enduro (Motorcycle) and used to Freeride until I broke my wrist badly. I switched to an more trail/XC focus MTB, but I honestly find it boring...so onto an EMTB.

I'm looking for options in the ~£5k and for a combination of trail/aggressive trail/enduro (I might trying this!). I quite like the Bosch motor with the overrun, 160mm suspension, Shimano running gear/brakes (not super bothered though). I really like the Whyte e160, but they are impossible to find. Anything else I should look at? Worth looking at longer travel bikes too?

Hi folks,

I've narrowed down to a bunch of bikes in my price range, should provide progression as I get better, there is fair variation/similarity in the bikes. I'll be starting to ride fairly mellow trails (Esher, Surrey Hills, Swinley) and will more than like get stuck into more aggressive trail riding or even the odd enduro.

The question is which bikes to try test ride (when it becomes possible)...I'd like some help to narrow down the list 3; outside of the E-160 S V1, which other two should I pick:

Whyte E-160 S V1 (This will be on the list for sure)

Whyte E-180 S V2

Focus SAM² 6.8

Vitus E-Sommet VRX (if the price is right)

YT Decoy Shred

Interested in these, but doubt a test ride will be found:

Canyon Spectral:ON CF 7.0

Torque:ON 8 (Dual Battery, but might be odd choice for my riding requirements)

I would advise you to contact Ace Bicycles Guilford, as you are in Surrey, I picked up my Whyte e150RS from them last week. Very helpful and appeared to have a plenty of bikes, although I don't know how many are already sold.

Ah, excellent I’ll give them a call on Monday! I’m pretty sold on the Whyte e160!
