Quite liking the new 3D maps in the Route planner (Subscribers Only I think).

Does quite a good job with the imaging, you can scroll in and pan around if you press CTRL and use the mouse.

Looking down over the dam.

yeah thats good, just tried it now and it's miles better. I have always used strava for mapping routes but used to just pull up the elavation tool at the bottom and repeatedly try routes to see which was the easiest, but now it seems obvious and much easier to route

That’s pretty cool. do you know how to add routs to strava? Like trails that are not mapped?
from my experience you need to report to strava and they will add it if it's popular. I have reported a load of times where the route won't plot to where I want cos of a glitch and most of the time they fixed it, but some still remain

Yup, you have to ride or walk it first whilst recording with Strava. Set it to only you to view it (you don't have to do that but it means you can mess about with it).

Change it to walk/hike/ride/ebike - whatever you want to create the segment as.

Then in strava on a computer click create new segment (scroll to the bottom).

Set the start and end points (has to be more than 300 meters long or it won't let you these days).

Create, name it, set it as public , viola.

Then if you want to create the same for another task, change to walk/hike/ride/ebike and do the same again - this is why it's best having it set to private whilst you mess about.

Thnk you can create about 8-10 a day, can't remember the limit.

I've just been playing about with it and it's great, seems so easy to navigate through the passes if you were planning a long ride on the road bike. heres a screenshot of a route below, and then you just hold CTRL key and spin it round and where the red lines disappear behind hills thats where it gets tough!

Doesn't Google earth do that aswell?
When I used to plan my off road mc trips in the pyrenees and alps I thought I used to get a fly by view, or maybe I dreamt it.....
