Sticky Keyhole in Bosch Battery Tube

Hey all,

I've got a Cannondale Moterra 3 2020 model. Bosch power tube 500Wh battery. I'm starting to notice the key which lets you pop the battery in and out of the tube is getting really sticky. As in it's really hard to get the key both in and out. I'm suspecting rust inside the barrel but that is just a guess. I lube it regularly (which helps). It's almost as if it got grit into the barrel.

Anyone else seen this issue? Any suggestions on how to improve it?

I had that. It took a week of oiling the key and inserting it; I really did use loads of oil; took the assembly apart, brought it indoors and fiddled with it every day. In my case I couldn’t get the battery in because it had seized solidly. The dealer sent me a replacement lock, which was the wrong one......after a week I thought, one more shot, let’s try some olive oil and hey presto it worked!
now you might think I’m having you on, but I’m not; I started a thread about it on here somewhere.
I even looked at the lock manufacturers website because I thought the normal fix is to use a bit of carbon powder/ pencil dust, but they reckon light oil is needed.
since the fix it works as sweet as a nut.
Keep persisting and it’ll loosen up.

I have the same problem on a brand new Cannondale Topstone Neo 5 I brought home yesterday. I removed the battery with the key provided. After examining, I reinstalled battery and tried to remove the key. It is completely frozen in place. It won't turn and can't be removed. I've tried about everything I can think of, wiggling, gently pulling in and out, holding ice cubes against it, and a squirt of penetrating oil. The key is completely frozen in place after one use and battery cannot be removed. I guess I will have to go back to REI for a fix or mechanism replacement. In meantime bike is rideable and chargeable.
