Afternoon all
Hope you all had a good ride today. So I have been sitting pondering what to do. If anything. I currently have a 2022 Trek Powerfly 5 which I have owned from new. And I like it. I use it for commuting and light offroad. But im getting a yearning for a new bike. However the Trek has a great motor in the Bosch CX with Purion. So is pretty simple to install with Volspeed. I dont want to get into the rights and wrongs over that. But for me its become an essential. Especially for the commute. I do fancy a full suspender having ridden a couple on holiday in Italy. But trying to get an FS on top of my Mini Countryman could prove tricky. Getting something with an even bigger range than my current 625wh battery is attractive. As I dont think there is an extender for the Powerfly of this vintage.

Very interested in your thoughts & comments.

I passed on my Trek Powerfly 5 (hardtail) and got the Trek Fuel 8 full suspension. No regrets. Great bike for commuting or technical trails, depending on which tires you use.

I kept the Rail but the Fuel exe is much lighter and faster on the technical.

Put a towball on your Mini Countryman, then you can use an ebike rack like a Buzzrack e-Scorpion to carry an e-MTB such as a Trek Rail which has a Bosch CX Gen4 motor - some amazing deals available at the moment.

I noticed that the Powerfly - I own a Powerfly 7 Full Suspension - is not very popular here. People here tend to prefer the Fuel (that wasn't available on the island when I bought my ebike).

Can someone explain me why? I have not experienced other ebikes, so I cannot tell if it is bad or not, and why. I just keep using it.

I noticed the same. Early on we got his/her’s PF5 hard tails. In retrospect I should have got his/her’s Rails like @irie did. She likes her PF 5 hardtail but I installed suitable tires for her riding adventures. (Road, flats, light trails etc.).

I’ve since handed down my medium PF 5 HT to my oldest son (I stripped off the good stuff first …I’m a bad Dad😉) but it’s suitable for his type of riding. (Commuter, flats, light trails).

I then purchased the Fuel EXE with the TQ motor. The geometry feels the same as my 9.7 Rail tank, but it’s a different animal for downhill. I’ll probably throw some more upgrades at the Fuel EXE but keep spare tires for riding with the better-half. A set of decent spare wheels and tires tires might be expensive for the Fuel EXE but I’ll be able to change out wheels fairly quickly …especially for those romantic 🥰 rides with my best friend. 😊
