Morning new to this forum so please be patient with me 
I have a BMC Alpenchallenge gravel bike which has the step e6100 fitted according to the e-tube app
I have this bike for a couple of years now
It has developed a very strange issue which I would appreciate any ideas/advice on please
I am in the UK so the bike is set as 16mph cut off for the electric assist
recently what is happening is I can be cycling along at say 12mph and the handle bar display will suddenly shoot up to 18mph and cause the motor to shut off, it then drops back immediately to the original speed and then repeats the cycle, turning the bike off and on does not clear the issue
Any ideas would be appreciated before I go to a Shimano service centre
