Steel 34T 104bcd round chainring

Has anyone found a steel 34t 104bcd chainring for their Levo? Praxis Works are still promising one ..........

Shimano E8000/7000 rings are 104 4-bolt NW and steel
they come in 34t or 38t

What's wrong with alu though?

I see that the Shimano rings suit 2 different chainlines - anyone know if the Levo needs 50mm or 53mm?

Really?

Shimano don't make a 36T so I use 104bcd Alu NW rings from aliXpress. I get well over 2000 miles out of them before they're worn enough to worry about replacement. At £7 a pop it works out more cost effective than shimano steel rings.

50mm will be for non boost rear dropout spacing. ie. 135QR or 142x12
53mm will be boost. ie, 148mmx12.
No idea if a Levo crankset is already offset for boost or not though.

If you are getting that sort of mileage out of an alloy ring i shall give that a go. Several individuals have commented that the allow wears out after a few hundred miles

I stuck one of these on the Kenevo and ok so far. (Same as Gary's AliExpress ones I think) You will need to buy the nuts/bolts ?!? as the standard spesh ones the bolts are intrinsic so you can't re-use them


For the "bolts" , I used these .. but be aware that the receiving bolt was too long on the Kenevo - 6mm I think, so it wouldn't tighten up properly, so I had to grind them down to 4mm. Easier to find some that are only 4 or 5mm to start with


Yes, they come with a spacer, but if you put this on the back, the bolts just touch the motor housing. Might be different on a 2.1 rather than a 1.3 though.

Chainrings have a lot of teeth, and also they don't have a derailleur, so they last a long time.

Why bother with a 34T?

36 or 38 seem to be the best choices if you want to be able to pedal over 20 mph.

7075 T6 alloy sprockets will last ages, I've had countless motocross bikes and enduro bikes with alloy rear sprockets, if a KTM SX500 can't kill one your eMTB won't.

If you want ulimate longevity then wait for Wolftooth to bring out a 34/36/38T in their stainless steel unit (currently only do 30/32T).

I've installed the chainring (36 tooth) and it was a breeze. Re-used the bolts as the new ring was threaded. No change to the chain.
I used the following for the chain guide.
Turbo Levo (up to) 38T Chain Guide Adaptor – Matter-Replicator
The stock guide didn't clear the ring and this worked and fit great. Looks like it came from the factory.
