Some tips/lessons for Canyon Spectral or SRAM Transmission owners....
After 3 weeks of ownership, my new and not-so-cheap bike now depends on cable ties to run.
(And I've learned quickly that some things need to be painted bright colours!)
First I had the classic Canyon Spectral:ON battery cover retention clip breakage:
Luckily, I was able to find the black rubber part with the steel rod in it on the trail. Removing the rod from the rubber clip that broke off enabled me to get things going again with a cable tie in place of the rubber part.
I will paint this part yellow in future. It was almost impossible to find on the trail.
(tape used to help find the metal rod on the trail when it next goes missing)
Then, as I was cruising along a fairly basic trail, I realised shifting had stopped.
Looking down at my derailleur I saw that the battery had lost contact because the clip holding it on had completely come off!
Very luckily, the battery was still in place. But the clip was nowhere to be found. Again, a cable tie (now part of my spares kit because of the first problem) gets things going again.
In future I will be sure to paint both the clip and the battery bright yellow, because I expect I might be looking for them on the trail again at some point in the future and black is almost impossible to find!
