I always liked the idea of an ebike but had no idea where to start, but 5 years ago someone on a motorcycle forum recommended a Bafang mid drive kit, so not wanting to splash too much cash, a kit was bought and fitted to my old 90's Canondale mtb. It worked OK but the small wheels and cantilever brakes didn't really cut it. A bit of research revealed a Voodoo Zobop full suspension bike would work so the kit was transferred to that. This was a great bike for natural trails, bridle ways and connecting roads etc. Had this bike for 4 years.
At some point a more road orientated bike was needed so a second motor kit(but no battery) was fitted to a Boardman hybrid and the existing battery just swapped between the two. The two bikes have covered 5k miles with no failures or breakages.
Then two years ago a Giant Reign E+1 was added the the stable, a huge step up from the Bafang bikes, but so it should be for the money. So far it has been problem free too and has introduced me to "modern" mountain biking. Besides using it on man made trails it has also done some cross country work, the Trans Cambrian Trail and Greater Ridgeway Trail.
Then a few weeks ago I was after a bigger battery for the Reign, but then started looking at discounted new bikes....and ended up with a new, almost half price Giant Trance with a 750Wh battery and sold the old Voodoo. It was a no brainer deal. The bigger battery is a nice step up from the 625.
I'm still learning what modern mountain biking is all about but it's a great journey.

Sadly the four legged friend has passed
