Shimano XTR br-m985 or SLX m7120

My new MTB has SLX M7120 brakes on which are 4 piston calipers. I have a HT with XTR BR-M985's on which look like they've got 2 piston calipers.

I'm assuming the M7120's will be better?

Could I use the older XTR lever and would it be better?

4 pot pads normally have more surface area to contact the rotor, thus produce more friction and thus braking. Larger pads will also dissipate heat quicker.

Do not use 2 pot levers on 4 pot calipers. The oil volumes pumped when you squeeze the lever, is matched between lever and caliper. Normally, the more pots. The more oil required to be pumped as you are filling 4 volumes behind the pots, instead of 2.

Assuming that since you have SLX M7120 brakes, you will have BL-M7100 levers which are pretty powerful.
