Hi guys,

So the charging port cover on my battery doesn't want to sit in it's place properly.

The rubber on the back has come out of shape and is now a pain in the ass.

Considering there's loads of these batteries about, it must've happened to others?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Similar on mine but not quite as bad as yours by the look of it. Sugru might be a way forward, it's a mouldable adhesive so you may be able to use it to fix the existing or fashion a new one (and it comes in black(y))

part # Y72V00007 CG Port Cap - cannot find this anywhere mine was missing when i bought bike.

Sugru good idea, or i'm thinking just a velcro wrap of some kind just to protect it and not worry bout it...

Being a shimano spare part the port cap is unlikely to be stocked by any shop so go to your LBS (they should have a Madison account) and ask them to back order you one.
to make it easy for them take along the part number
Which is either BT-E8020 CG or Y72V00007

The part is out of stock until mid March so just do as Steve suggests but gaffer tape it in place after every charge until new stock is available.

Thnks Gary! I figured an equally easy fix - cheap velcro ankle wrap - its elastic and will go around the battery a couple times so should keep the water and dirt out as long as its not submerged...
