Hello fellow E-MTB-ers !
I have an issue with the charger mentioned in the title.
Bought a Merida 2020 E160 8K a couple weeks ago. Everything was fine, until once i completely depleted my battery, and started charging. It was the 6th or 7th charge, i don`t know exactly. But before, i never dried up the battery ever.
I noticed some weird noise from the charger after the battery was fully loaded, then the circuit breaker shut off. I was not aware at first, it was the charger.
Unplugged it, it was hot, very hot. After that, the charger does not work at all. Contacted the shop, they replace the charger free of charge.
They never heard of anything similar before. But they said, if the next charger does the same, then the issue is withe grid in my house, and i have to pay for it. Which makes sense.
I will buy a power strip with built in protection for over voltage etc. . An electrician buddy of mine checked out the power outlet, everything is fine.
I used that socket without any problems before. The charger port on the bike is clean, free of any dirt etc. The cable is in mint condition.
The bike works, no errors on the display. I charge the battery, when its in the bike, in my garage. ( around 19-23 Celsius in there. 66 - 73 F)
My questions are :
- anyone else had similar problem with a charger ?
- anyone experienced that the charger gets very hot, or noisy ?
