Hello all. I have read lots of threads about charging battery’s whilst away in a van and without a hookup. Solar and battery’s not an option for me really. I will need a few days and muiltple battery charges

I have been looking at generators and you can get a Honda ex650 for a decent price on eBay. I see conflicting reports as to whether you can run sensitive electrics on such a generator but they are much much cheaper than a modern inverter generator

anyone got any experience

thanks

No personal experience, but I would say you 'should' be ok. You may be better getting a cheap low power inverter generator though? I think you can get them for a couple of hundred pounds from machine mart or similar.

The other option would be to hook the generator to a leisure battery and then use a cheap inverter from that. It looks like there are direct outputs on that Honda to do just that, so no charger needed. Could have the benefit you should only need to tun the genni for an hour or two per charge rather than the whole time.
