I just discovered this, and thought it was a cool tip someone might not have realized yet.
I was riding behind my friend who stopped on a steep hill. I had to stop before I could shift to my largest gear. Usually I try to hop on one foot while pedaling and lifting the rear of the bike, but then I realized i could turn the crank using the walk feature.
The technique: First put the bike into walk mode (push bottom button on Purion). Hold the front brake and push forward slightly to take weight off the rear tire. With your left hand, press walk (the plus button), and with your right shift to the desired gear. The shift is quick and easy.
