Schwalbe front and Maxxis rear, is this sacrilege?

Front and rear Maxxis Assegai Maxxgrip DD are packing up horribly with the mud turning them into slicks.

Replacing our fronts with Schwalbe Magic Mary Ultra Soft Super Gravity, and rears with Maxxis Minion DHR 2 Maxxgrip DD.

I feel dirty doing this. ;)

It’s irrational, but my subconscious just won’t let me mix tyre brands front to rear.

The only way I could accept it is to ride out blindfolded, and hey that might even help my riding!

Depending on how muddy it is, a Shorty is a better choice IMO. After 4 winters on MM it was a revelation.

South Downs chalk often drains pretty quickly so imo MM is a good compromise over winter.

Will put Assegais back on in April/late Spring because where we ride they have epic grip. Mrs Rail's Assegais do much less miles so are in good condition, but mine are knacked. So if the DHR 2 DD's have enough rear grip will put Assegais on the front of our Rails. The best laid plans and all that blah blah blah ..
