I originally posted this in the Specialized forum but I’m posting it here now because other bikes have DT Swiss hubs and I’m hoping someone has some info.
So I’m pedaling up my usual climb yesterday. I heard the familiar pop sound that I always assumed was chain pop, then a series of smaller popping sounds and boom I have a freewheel in both directions. Coast downhill and my buddy tows me home. I pulled the DT Swiss hub apart. Cleaned and regreased everything. It doesn’t look bad. Confusing. I thought the teeth would be really damaged on the rings. It seems to engage again now (very short test on my street). Has anyone else seen this? Is there another place is could slip other than the rings? I’m going to give it another solid test with a real ride in the next day or so. Hopefully it’s good. If not I’m looking to warranty it cause it’s less than a year old.
