In Italy a retailer is testing this Canadian innovation: Rocky Mountain's new light ebike, Instinct Powerplay SL.
Dyname 4SL motor, 560W peak, 65Nm, bottom bracket directly into the crankcase casting.
480Wh battery.
Does anyone have any other information on this?

I met Wade in 2008 in Kleinwalsertal at the Rocky Mountain Days ;)
He has been with Rocky Mountain since the beginning of his career. Such a great rider! It was great to see him embrace emtbs being the Godfather of Mountain Biking.

I do like the look of this but need more info. Weight, Geometry, Price etc. Being limited to a 34t ring only is kind of limiting, but really like the built in ISCG mounts so you can at least make a simple guard.
Can't understand why they would make a mullet link and not offer it as an original option so you don't need to buy a redundant wheel and link first.

I really like what this bike offers.

It's a mid-pivot bike which will greatly reduce/ eliminate Pedal Kickback. Great geo. Most capable battery and motor in the mid power segment, by a good margin. You can build a proper enduro e-bike that weighs about 45#s which is not easy to do.

If you set it up as a BC addition it's a 150/ 160, which is great for a High Pivot bike as they feel sort of bottomless. It's on my very short list of next bikes.

There are a couple of things that give me pause:
1) Can I get cranks for this thing in less than 165mm?
2) Will this motor still be supported in 7 years as it's an oddball.
3) Damn I wish I could order it as a frame only.

motor/battery support is the question. Long term support is enough of a worry/concern with the big, dedicated, multi-brand vendors... its even more so with a one off like this.
