I was looking at the 2023-24 RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil Shock, however there are different compression tunes. Anyone know or have this shock recommend which is best suited for a 2023 Reign E?

Available tunes: H, L, L1, LC, M

Place I got mine only stocked 1 tune, light compression, linear rebound. It’s in the ballpark for adjustment. The hydro bottom out is great for this bike too.

I've got one coming for my Reign, no idea what tune it has (there's no mention of different tunes on the UK distributers website). I'll be interested to see how it fares in comparison to the squelchy X2 that it's replacing. I'll probably send the X2 back to Fox for a service/rebuild so that I have it as a spare or in case I don't like the coil shock.

I noticed the same on websites it does not state what tune the shock comes with.

It's great, not massively better than the X2 that was on before but I know that this one won't start squelching and need constant maintenance. Adds a fair chunk of extra weight to the bike though if that's something that bothers you.

Did you send your X2 to Fox ? 2024 X2 is pretty much fixed, no more squelching.

The shock is a little bit less sensitive as Fox added a negative air spacer so you run less pressure in the shock on top of the other changes below.
  • New base valve piston design and compression tune said to increase damping performance and improve sensitivity
  • New bearing housing seal package claimed to virtually eliminate the possibility of aeration
  • New scraper seal for improved durability
  • New 7000 series shock body on all models
  • New hard chrome damper shaft finish for increased durability

No, not yet. The X2 is still sitting in the bottom of my spare parts box. I'll send it off at some point to have a service though. It'd be interesting to stick it back on again after I've got used to the coil shock and see how it feels.
I haven't ridden that much over the last five weeks. I had a big crash and injured my shoulder five weeks ago (first time I've ever had to go to hospital with a bike related injury in 35 years riding!) My shoulder is well on the way to recovery now (although it's been permanently deformed, so looks horrible) so hopefully I'll start riding more again over the next few weeks.
