Ride dash plus for Giant Stance E+1

I just picked the Ride Dash Plus. I turned on my existing controller on the bar. Pushed the reset button on the back. It said pair.
One video I watched with no talking, showed you could scroll up n down showing speed assist level 1,-5.
Mine does nothing.
What am I doing wrong?
It will scroll through odo etc. But can't seem to change anything.
Any advice welcome.
