Just had my first ride on my 9.8 XT and I'm loving it.
The only issue I have is that the odometer is showing over 200,000 hrs.
The mileage is correct.
My question is how do I reset the odometer in the app?
Hi, I've got the same problem using an android phone. No answers from trek , nothing available via the TQ dongle interface either. The only thing that gives the correct hours is connecting to an apple version of the app.
I have the same issue with my brand new Fuel Exe showing 216,745 hours straight from the dealer, and am getting the identical "visit your dealer for a diagnostics check" reply from Trek. I have contacted my dealer and will repost on this forum if I get any useful feedback. I can't say I'm impressed by Trek's customer service after buying a £9,000 bike.
I've had another response from Trek UK on this issue. They've told me the following: "As mentioned in my previous message, you can visit your local Trek dealer. Unfortunately this (changing the odometer via the app) isn't possible due to the fact that it could be considered de-frauding the system, very similar to clocking back the odometer in a car.
Additionally this will also allow the team in the store to make sure that there isn't any underlying issues with the bike which will allow us to make sure that it's exactly as it should be.
I'm sorry that this isn't a satisfactory response, however I have checked this with the team and we are all in agreement.
Apologies about any inconveniance this causes, however we are just following the prcess and making sure that the bike is in tip-top shape as it should be."
I have now contacted the dealer I bought the bike from and am awaiting their response.
Not a very satisfactory experience so far, but I'll update this post when I find out more.
I have a Trek, a Powerfly 7, and while I like the bike, I have to say that the software is terrible. I understand that this is not the most important part of an ebike, but frankly I expected something better from a pretty expensive Trek.
Instead, the app they provide - ebike connect - works pretty poorly, with several incomprehensible problems, especially with accessories, but not only. For instance, sometime it records, sometime it doesn't. No way to understand why.
Further to me other posts above, I've now ridden the bike 3 times, totalling 68.86 miles on my Garmin, the 3 separate rides on the Trek app recorded a total 109.12 miles, while the overall mileage on the app odometer shows 80.2 miles. To compound matters the hours on the odometer are unchanged at 216,745! What's going on? The recorded maps in the app history are also garbage and totally inaccurate, so how would this be any use for Trek's boast that the app can be used for navigation and battery estimation range? Either the app is useless or the software is faulty, although my dealership has now updated the software. The bike is now back at the dealership and they are trying to liaise with Trek UK. However, I had already contacted Trek UK, who couldnt/wouldn't help me and insisted I go through the dealership. I have a feeling that I am going to have to make a warranty claim and get a replacement bike ordered as the bike would be pretty worthless at resale in its current state, because who would want to purchase a bike with faulty software/app and 216,745 hours on the clock? Currently, I am not impressed with Trek's customer service. For your information, the dealership tells me that the TQ app is superior to Trek's for motor tuning etc., but it doesn't have any of the other Trek Central features such as mapping.
I will update this post when I hear what the dealership has to say on their interactions with Trek UK.
I have exactly the same amount of hours on my odometer as you at 216,745.
I had a response from Trek, which I can't find now, which stated there was an update to the app that was coming which would resolve this issue.
I'm not holding my breath though.
I'm now just riding my bike and not worrying about the app.
On the bright side, I fell off my new bike at Ae yesterday on the green/blue trail about 400m from the car park after completing all the red/shredder etc. my front wheel washed out on a gravelly root . I broke my seat, derailleur hanger and am black and blue and sore.
Latest update is that after leaving my Trek Fuel Exe 9.8 for a week with my dealer, they updated all of the software on the bike and were also told by Trek UK that all I had to do was to delete the app on my Android phone, reinstall it and then the incorrect hours showing on the odometer would be reset to zero. Needless to say, this had no effect whatsoever and I still have 216,745 hours on the odometer. As my dealer said, Trek are merely using their customers to do the testing for them rather than actually finding a solution themselves with their own software engineers. Such a poor showing by Trek and it only goes to illustrate that post-sales customer support is unimportant to them, no matter how much money has been spent on a bike. I will be switching my allegiance to a different manufacturer next time around if I don't get a satisfactory solution from Trek's next software update.
