The 22700(22mm x 70mm) cells are basically a little bit thicker in size than the 21700(21mm x 70mm).
But the increased capacity from that thickness probably allows less cells inside the 800 Wh pack, thus the same size factor with slightly increased energy density vs the 750Wh pack.

Hi mate, thanks for sharing this info. I also have an E+2 and according to this store, the 750wh battery is only compatible with the E+1 and E+0. Since you have the e+2 like me, did your LBS mention such limitations, or could it be simply that the store is giving out incorrect compatibility info? Thanks
the 750wh does fit the 2022 E+2 in medium (not sure about small). LBS assures me the 800wh will also.

Really surprised by that new battery.

Not sure what availability will looks like, but as of now no bikes are sporting the 800W so we might have a chance until 2023 models comes out with the new batteries.

I will definetely sell one of my 625W and replace by that 800W....range will start to get really interesting!

I enjoyed the Auto on the climb yesterday much more than before the update, it felt a bit more controlled, it wasn't the on/off feeling as it was before...maybe it just me I don't know but that's how it felt.

This is something I noticed too, I actually liked the auto mode when climbing at the local dh spot. No more faffing with assist levels when doing laps, I just leave it in auto.

Few observations after five months of riding. On transfers (roads) the motor kind of sucks, at least compared to the silky smooth Kenevo I had. The motor is a bit noisy and makes a funny noise when pedaling stops, like a power drill revving down. Also, it seems to cut assistance briefly when the cadence is really low, maybe this happens on trails too but I really only notice it on roads. Anyone else notice this?

Battery consumption seems a bit high (625Wh battery). Compared to my old Kenevo with 500Wh battery and same tires, I barely get the same range and perceived exertion feels a bit higher. I have no data to back this up, just my gut feeling.

But where it matters, on trails and downhill/enduro laps this thing is a blast. The more I ride it, the more I like it. The geometry and suspension are spot on. Instant motor response is great on trails. It's also pretty agile bike for it's size and weight. I'm still very happy with the bike and just want to keep on riding.

Holy crap that's expensive!

I finally got my 250 extended and have been riding the last 3 days and.... I don't need this battery extender lol.

I might sell it.
Dale you don’t have to strap it on for every ride. Unless you’re not adventuring far enough or long enough on a regular basis to justify the extender. For myself I’m hoping to score the new 800wh battery to complement the 750wh and the 250wh extender ! BC is a huge wide open area with so much to discover. I don’t know where you ride but I love discovering new to me areas. They are endless ! Cheers 🍻

Interesting, I find auto almost impossible for technical areas. Other bikes I have had the brake levers have killed the motor engaging but Reign does not have brake control over power which leads power surge when brakes are released on technical terrain. I need to use manual settings, most offen 2, for tech…

Are the climbs just easy areas or what could be the difference ?

Just ordered one. Should be here in 3 weeks. Hope they come good.

It does blow my mind how expensive these E-bike batteries are. I recently spent the same amount on 3.5X the kwh for a LiPo Leisure battery for for my van. That thing has a fancy BMS with bluetooth connectivity. I guess while suckers like us are willing to pay, manufacturers will be happy to sell and its not like supply is outweighing demand right now.

Anyway looking forward to extending the reach on the Giant. I starting to think I would never get hold of a second battery. Now im getting 50wh more than I hoped for too. Happy days.

This week we are in St George and riding at 7am because its freeking hot and we have done mostly punchy stuff and about 25-30 kms. At home I was going through more battery with climbs but I still havent ended a ride under 50% I=at my local Bragg Creek trails.

Yes I guess it's nice to have the backup but its an expensive backup that I'm going to need to keep on the battery maintainer because I might not even need it.

edit; ps...this bike handles the rough stuff like a champ. I'm very confident riding just about anything and the type of riding here the bike is an excellent choice.

Hey guys, may be worth having a quick check of your lower shock bolt torque. I just removed my rear shock to send it for service. I removed the top bolts first. Once they were out the shock was super loose on the lower mount with loads of play. Nut on rhs was no more than finger tight.

probably just a freak occurrence but fwiw may be worth giving that lower nut a quick check.

I had a quick look around and did not find the value. Annoyingly that bolt has no info printed on it.
I found some info for an older Reign with the same arrangement and it said 15nm. Other suggestions were 11nm same as the upper bolts.
It did not take much to stop the play in the shock so if don’t find other info I will start with 11Nm

I always put some blue locktite on mine it always needschecking

My old 2020 reign had that bolt come loose
Had 15nm marked on it,
Blue loctite and ur good to go

Found that mine was also loose a few ago and lead to a creaking noise.

I believe it has to do with the shock eyelet pivoting just a little bit on the bolt when suspension is being compressed, better check that bolt more often.

IMHO Morzine is much more fun on a proper DH bike - its pretty easy to do a full days riding (70k or more) with little or no pedalling so an E bike may not be the best bet. The longer and slacker the better.
I hated morzine on a dh rig 🤣 fast but not fun. Most of it doesn't really need it really. Morgins was a different matter. It got washed out last year and was mega rough. The year before did moraine on a 150/150 Bronson and still loved it. Generally we do chatel, super m, pleney, morgins, linderetes and Les gets. I have really loved the reign e+ at bike parks (info to one every week)

Good answer, but isnt he taliking about riding what would essentially be a DH bike but with an added 8kg or so of motor and battery that wouldn't be used 99% of the time?

Noooo. DH bike is way longer and slacker. That's why they aren't as fun. They are built for all out speed and stability. Which is ok, but not fun. Can always take the battery out. 21ish kilos then. To be honest I don't notice the weight anymore. Plus can do a few enduro loops as well then as well. But your right, most the time the battery isn't being used.

Does anyone know the difference between these 2 batteries please?
This is the one fitted in my 22 reign 625wh part no. 244M36625l-02V

I have chance to buy a used 625wh battery from an explore e+2 2021
Part no 244M36625l-01V

Same part no. Apart from mine ends in -02V the other is - 01V

Wondered if the V2 just a newer version of the V1 or something different.

I started getting the squelching so I followed up with the dealer (purchased online), who directed me to the importer, who directed me to a local service shop to investigate if its a warranty issue or not. As im in no real hurry to get the shock back I hoped I could get a fix under warranty. From the responses that I got it seems like that is unlikely which is not a huge deal. What concerned me more was the response from the service center;

"Fox Float X2 Performance Elite that has started to make a load squelching noise when compressed

It is a high maintenance shock - don't use unless you can spend on service on a regular basis. The chance for this falling under a warranty case is 50/50."

So its the price of a service or a bit more (200 Swiss francs) which I can tolerate if its one per year but this shock is 6 months old with not a lot of hours on it.

Im wondering if its really worth it or should I think just switching out for a lower maintenance shock?

Think you answered your own question. I won't touch those shocks. So unreliable and rarely work perfectly. Get a super deluxe ultimate and be done with it.

I cannot believe that Fox Switzerland won't take care of you. I send all defective (within warranty period) forks and shocks to foxracingshox in Germany and they just take care of EVERYTHING. Never had any question asked. We run Fox on almost all our bikes and these things are reliable.

This would be my alternative - 3 fox services and I bought it. I have never had any issue with RS but I guess its luck of the draw to some extent. I have some super old Fox shocks on some old bikes that I never serviced and they still work. They are from a much simpler generation though.

Yea, im a little disappointed to be fair. The issue seems to be because I bought the bike outside of Switzerland. The dealer told me to go through the importer, the importer directed me to a local shop, the local shop told me to go back to the dealer and told me the shock was a PITA. I dont mind sucking it up to have it fixed but I dont want to do it every 6 months.

Seems to be the luck of the draw with Fox but I guess you can be unlucky with any brand.
