I have been using Shimano MTB cables but the plastic doesn't seem to hold up for very long. Any recommendations. More concerned with durability than slickness or weight.

Shimano SP41 is nice.
Jagwire is nice.

I don't think I've ever had a problem with a shifter cable housing not "holding up."
What fails on your housings?

The endcaps seem to fail regularly, they break in 2 and the cable and sleeve no longer seat well in their holder on the derailleur.
