Hi, has anyone got any experience with Quick release mountain bike pedals, any recommendations and are they any good? Looking to fit these to my Orbea wild so I can get two bikes loaded in my car plus holiday luggage etc.

You mean this sort of thing?

I was unaware that it was ever a requirement until I read your post. So I used Mr Google and subsequently read a review from an extreme off-road bike packer. He was struggling to push his heavily laden bike up a steep track and the pedals were snagging on all sorts of stuff. Add in his feet slipping on the track and he was not making any progress. Removing his pedals stopped the problem. QR pedals would have solved his problem so much faster.

I too used to put my bike in the back of the car, sometimes more than one bike. But I left the appropriate Allen key in the boot so removing the pedals and refitting at the other end of the journey was easy. I rarely have to remove pedals once I'm actually on the bike, but I always have my multi-tool if I do. But to be facing a pedals on/off moment many times per ride, I can see that attraction of a QR for pedals. :)

Thanks for your reply Steve, I had seen those when I did a search, but was hoping there maybe some alternatives as those (at the low price) are Chinese budget pedals. I have a Dahon city folding bike that has quickly release pedals, very easy to remove, but I certainly would use them for my emtb.

Give them a go and report back. :)
