I have two ebikes already, a Specialized Creo and a Orbea Rise. Both have internal, non removable batteries. I just purchased a third ebike, an Ari Explorer Peak fat bike that has a Shimano EP600 with the Darfon 708wh battery. This one is removable.
Ari is direct to consumer and the bike was shipped to me. I believe this damage happened in shipping and Ari is making it right, but it makes me wonder how reliable the locking mechanisms and mounts are for the Darfon battery?
What happened is the battery latch mechanism broke so that on any slight impact the battery will drop out the bottom of the frame. You wouldn't want this happening while cycling.
Dropping the battery also dinged that up.
Was I just unluckly with this being a one off or are removable batteries with these kind of mounts problematic in regards to the latch breaking?
I also did a video showing the issue.
