Problem with wu seatpost

Has anyone taken a wu seat post (for Kenevo) apart? I had a nightmare with mine today. I thought I would do a simple service and greased the shaft. When I put the seat post back on the bike, I pushed down and the circlip popped out of the bottom (because I had not pushed it down properly) and fell down into the bottom bracket. A couple of hours later! I manged to get it back but it the process of putting everything back I was turning the shaft and I think I managed to unscrew the Wu bit a the top. In any case, when I put everything back it all seemed to work until there was a poof and the Wu bit flew off and all pressure went. I tried to screw the wu bit back on (took a while to realise it was a reverse thead) but everytime I put pressure in, it would come off. It seems that it does not want to screw onto the shaft at the top of the post. I am baffled and somewhat frustrated since spending the best part of a great riding day trying to sort it out. I've not found any information on servicing the post apart from what Specialized produce which is pretty minimal.
