Has anyone else had this happen?

It can come down to dirty contacts at the battery lead. The 2 large central ones carry the power and the 4 tiny ones carry the communications. Make sure it’s clean and seated well.
I’ve done 6500km on mine and all good. Occasionally it will be a bit dicky, but nothing a quick clean won’t fix.
