So you think zipping along a bridlepath or byway at 40mph is ok?

There is no way in hell a derestricted factory eMTB will do 40 mph on flat ground. More like 25 mph in good conditions, maybe get it up to 30 for a short stint.

Now this topic is in the derestricted section you will not be judged as harshly as in the “mainstream” forum.
This is the dark underside of the forum were such evil topics as removing the speedlimiter may be discussed.

If you do it, don't be an ass and go racing past people on cyclepaths. Think of it as a fast car, you have to be carefull were you go fast.

It is loads of fun and can be extremely usefull, it is also illegal and voids warranty (although it basically can't be proven when you remove the chip), also is an insurance no no.

Read up on the topic, decide wisely, don't boast about it.
