Thanks for sharing.
and great to hear how the e bike has changed your life style and improved your mental wellbeing.
bike rider weight limits are a safety recommendation and a byproduct of us all wanting lighter overall bikes. I reckon they always er on the side of caution and assume a certain level of riding. ie.it's fair to assume 170mm enduro bike is going to be ridden fast over rough steep terrain ad off jumps/drops etc. whereas a beginner or out of shape (excuse the term) rider is probably unlikely to actually put the bike through the same stress as a slightly lighter advanced/expert rider. So long as you can run the suspension stiff enough I reckon for gentle off road exploring in the hills many bikes would infact be fine with a far heavier than recommended rider on board.
Keep riding, It's soul medicine !

We have a local guy that lost a ton of weight picking up mountain biking - like 200lbs. He's still a big guy, well over 6ft tall.

I get your point totally about weight limit. It's always a balance in engineering to design something as strong and light as possible. Don't worry so much about the weight limit. Just don't bomb off any 10ft drops!

I've lost just over 3 stone since getting my ebike probably got the same to go again. Combined with a sensible diet it's been relatively easy. The ebike means I can ride most days.

Wow! That is a LOT of calories. Mind you, as I am now commuting, my numbers for 2019 are already stacking up.

Well done, too. That is one epic achievement. What do you plan for 2019?

I'd like 500hours this year, I'm focusing on improving my riding skills I'm not too worried about speed but I'd like to be able to ride the tricky stuff. I'm in Scotland so lots of trails I've never ridden before.

Excellent! Whereabouts in Scotland? My folks are Helensburgh. I’ve lived there for 15 years of my 50. Now in the West Midlands, but miss the hills and the sea!

I can show you a good few trails of increasing technicality/difficulty in a progressive kind of way over this way. Happy to help you with skills tips too. As I have a fair bit of coaching. leading and guiding experience and love seeing folk progress.
