The noise isn’t a dealbreaker for me but I’d be happier if it was a tad quieter. Still undecided on an SL or a Whyte 150. Hoping to get a demo ride on Whyte next week.

Its louder than a 19 turbo, but quieter than a 18 turbo. If you have ridden either of those. But honestly its a non issue, i think most ppl would forget about it within a few min

that's got me wondering if I could do without the mode selector. got a feeling I'd be habitually reaching for theTCU when I should be watching the trail.
The Specialized guys at the launch recommended we try running the Mission Control setting of 35 / 100, so you can still get up to 100% assistance through pedalling input.

I will run:
  • Eco 30 / 30
  • Trail 35 / 100
  • Turbo 100 / 100
And the default mode in Trail, so a good balance of efficiency but have the power when its needed through pedal input. And when I want full turbo just press the top tube button (when I'm doing a tuck no hander ?)

30/30 is very hard to pedal up!

Yes just wrapped some electrical tape around the connector plug.

did you know, if you hit the - on the speed controller 4 times the power to motor cuts out? I discovered that on a test ride and thought it was pretty cool b/c pedaling it without power is actually possible/pleasant with this bike. also if you need to go stealthily by some aggro hikers or ebike haters you have that option ; )

Actually had mine in some random settings I beleive Blevo had set.

10/100
60/100
100/100

Was quite interesting, as the day went on eco got really hard as I wasn't putting the cadence. But rest it was great, I think with 30/100, you couldn't need much else.

Hey Santa Cruz just bought some center lock wheels for levo myself. How long have you been riding with this magnet set up? Do you think it is durable enough to last for years? I only ask because of the plastic threads on the spoke ...
Shimano makes disc rotors with built in magnets for ebikes.

I have turned the power off and rode it silently by some park rangers at a local park (Fremont Older) that has a "No Motorized Vehicles" sign. They didn't even notice it was an ebike.
yea I've did a bit of that on my test day to see what It was like.

Also had a few comments along the lines of 'oh wow thats an ebike?!? where is the motor?'

Including my Dad not even realising it was one.

Just finished my short ride with 35/100 setting.
  • 18.5 KM
  • 706 feet of vertical
  • 131Wh battery used
  • 61% battery remaining
  • Average Support Level: 69%
Definitely going to leave it in this. Seems really natural and you can still achieve 240 watts assistance from the motor, but it doesn't unnecessary give too much power when not needed.

Also at no point did I ever feel I needed to change mode. The speed controller is definitely staying off the bike!
