Anyway, this podcast, is an interview with the founder of Cushcore (who I think were the first to market for these type of inserts in MTBs) and though it is a bit long, if you have a long drive to your next ride meet, you will find it interesting.

For sure it’s a bit of an advert as you’d expect it to be, but he does describe in great detail many of the benefits that well designed inserts provide, way beyond just a bit of rim protection.
I do find it a bit strange that people can argue the ‘massive’ differences between different tyres, or brakes, or forks, or wheelsets, and at the same time just but the cheapest inserts they can get. Adam Krefting argues very well why not all inserts are created equal!
